Ao longo da última semana lancei um conjunto de posts que pretendiam levantar a questão da resistência islâmica. O facto de serem posts com poucas coisas escritas, entre o provocatório e o iconográfico, permitiu que o debate entre os comentaristas ganhasse relevância. Era a intenção e viu as suas melhores expectativas ultrapassadas. Num único tema e ao longo de sete entradas foram feitos mais de trezentos comentários o que dá expressão e actualidade ao tema. Infelizmente a quantidade dos comentários não é sinónimo de grande eloquência. Mesmo em comentaristas que costumamos ver menos presos a dogmas e preconceitos ouvimos dizer expressões como capitulação ao islamo-fascismo, paralelos entre a resistência islâmica e a Al-Qaeda e mistificações de todas as espécies e feitios relativamente aos povos muçulmanos. Boa parte desses comentários parecem tirados do tempo da guerra entre os povos ibéricos e os povos magrebinos, da albarda de um qualquer cruzado devoto.

O Conselho dos Guardiões rejeitou anular as presidenciais iranianas das quais resultou a reeleição do actual presidente do país, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, com quase dois terços dos votos, contra pouco mais de um terço do seu principal opositor, Mir-Hossein Mousavi.
De acordo com informações fornecidas pela máxima autoridade constitucional iraniana, as irregularidades registadas no sufrágio do passado dia 12 não são suficientes para anular a consulta em que participaram mais de 40 milhões de pessoas. Apesar de em 50 dos mais de 360 distritos eleitorais iranianos terem sido registados mais votos que votantes, num total de aproximadamente três milhões, o Conselho sublinha que o resultado não se altera a favor de Mousavi, uma vez que este foi derrotado nas urnas por mais de 11 milhões de votos de diferença, explica. Acresce que a maioria das queixas da oposição refere-se a alegadas irregularidades anteriores à realização da consulta, diz ainda o Conselho.
Simultaneamente, continuam nas ruas do Irão os confrontos envolvendo as autoridades, partidários de Mousavi e apoiantes de Ahmadinejad. Apenas estes últimos acatam a proibição dos protestos decretada pelo governo para evitar tumultos. Segundo dados oficiais divulgados pela imprensa iraniana, citados pela Prensa Latina, em mais de uma semana de crise política morreram 19 pessoas, mil foram feridas, entre as quais 400 polícias, e 457 foram presas.
O governo iraniano diz que os detidos são agitadores ao serviço de potências estrangeiras e, face à colossal mobilização de meios contra o regime (milhões de dólares investidos pela CIA, manipulação de informação, instrumentalização de plataformas de comunicação para difundir uma situação de aparente caos e mobilizar sectores da população com base em boatos), acusa o imperialismo de ingerência nos assuntos internos do país.
EUA, Alemanha, França e Grã-Bretanha estão apostados numa campanha para derrubar o governo do Irão, que depois de convocar vários embaixadores estrangeiros acreditados em Teerão para os esclarecer sobre a situação, equaciona rever as relações com as três potências europeias.

Dear compatriots,
Honorable Iranians living abroad,
Your widespread and energetic presence in this year’s 22 Khordad elections is indicative of your ties to our beloved Iran, and your admirable worries about the future of your country, and as I mentioned to you in my election message, Iran belongs to all Iranians and all layers of the populous are responsible for its future, and enjoy the same rights in it.
I feel obliged to thank you for your epic presence in determining the future of your country. Your widespread welcoming of these elections and your green and energetic presence at the ballot boxes was so large that it even forced the government and the organizers of the elections to admit to a 300% increase in the participation of Iranians in the tenth presidential elections outside of the country.
Your trust in this insignificant civil servant and your decisive vote for me in most of the voting stations outside of the country has placed a heavy burden on my shoulders. I would like to give you my assurance that I remain true to my existing pact with you and all layers of the great people of Iran, and using all legal avenues will demand your deserved rights that have been violated at the ballot boxes.
Unfortunately, as you witness in the international media, contrary to the letter of the constitution, and the stated freedoms in the Islamic Republic, all my communication with the people and you has been cut off, and people’s peaceful objections are being crushed. The national media which is being financed with public funds, with a revolting misrepresentation is changing the truth, and labels the peaceful march of close to three million people as anarchist, and the media that are being controlled by the government have become the mouthpiece of those who have stolen the people’s votes.
I’d like to thank you again for your peaceful objections which have received widespread coverage across the world, and would like to ask you that by using all legal channels, and by remaining faithful to the sacred system of the Islamic Republic, to make sure that your objections are heard by the authorities in the country. I am fully aware that your justified demands have nothing to do with groups who do not believe in the sacred Islamic Republic of Iran’s system. It is up to you to distance yourself from them, and do not allow them to misuse the current situation.

The purpose of this guide is to help you participate constructively in the Iranian election protests through twitter.
1. Do NOT publicise proxy IP’s over twitter, and especially not using the #iranelection hashtag. Security forces are monitoring this hashtag, and the moment they identify a proxy IP they will block it in Iran. If you are creating new proxies for the Iranian bloggers, DM them to @stopAhmadi or @iran09 and they will distributed them discretely to bloggers in Iran.
2. Hashtags, the only two legitimate hashtags being used by bloggers in Iran are #iranelection and #gr88, other hashtag ideas run the risk of diluting the conversation.
3. Keep you bull$hit filter up! Security forces are now setting up twitter accounts to spread disinformation by posing as Iranian protesters. Please don’t retweet impetuosly, try to confirm information with reliable sources before retweeting. The legitimate sources are not hard to find and follow.
4. Help cover the bloggers: change your twitter settings so that your location is TEHRAN and your time zone is GMT +3.30. Security forces are hunting for bloggers using location and timezone searches. If we all become ‘Iranians’ it becomes much harder to find them.
5. Don’t blow their cover! If you discover a genuine source, please don’t publicise their name or location on a website. These bloggers are in REAL danger. Spread the word discretely through your own networks but don’t signpost them to the security forces. People are dying there, for real, please keep that in mind.
6. Denial of Service attacks. If you don’t know what you are doing, stay out of this game. Only target those sites the legitimate Iranian bloggers are designating. Be aware that these attacks can have detrimental effects to the network the protesters are relying on. Keep monitoring their traffic to note when you should turn the taps on or off.
7. Do spread the (legitimate) word, it works! When the bloggers asked for twitter maintenance to be postponed using the #nomaintenance tag, it had the desired effect. As long as we spread good information, provide moral support to the protesters, and take our lead from the legitimate bloggers, we can make a constructive contribution.
Please remember that this is about the future of the Iranian people, while it might be exciting to get caught up in the flow of participating in a new meme, do not lose sight of what this is really about.
